Twitter Iowa

by Rob Cook on January 8, 2009

Finally, Twitter is catching on strong in Iowa and hopefully will grow in Dubuque as well.  Twitter is a free social networking and micro-blogging service that allows its users to send and read other users’ updates (otherwise known as tweets), which are text-based posts of up to 140 characters in length.  KCRG-TV ran a report on Twitter and what it is and how people in Iowa are using it.

See KCRG-TV Video Report Here

I’ve been Twittering for about six months, more strongly so in the last three.  My Twitter ID is @robcook.  I found a short YouTube video that shows what Twitter is in plain English

Register at www.Twitter.com, complete your profile, including your bio and location and start Tweeting – you’ll not regret it!

Nice, sweet and short post! Think Twitter in Plain English did a better job of explaining Twitter than KCRG – but it could be the giggling anchors that distracted me. Let’s hope more Dubuque people join Twitter – DeMo, CR, and Iowa will be on their 3rd tweetup by the end of January!

Yeah, I’m hoping we get a few more tweeters in Dubuque. There’s been a few added lately, seem right around the time of the election, but a few of them have already dropped off. I’ll do what I can to expand the audience…Rob
